Unit Purpose and Aims
The purpose of this unit is to;
This unit will ask the learner to learn about corporate governance as enshrined in company law as it relates to creative businesses.
Learning Outcomes
Learners will;
1. Understand the rules that companies have to follow in order to operate legally
Learners can;
1.1 Describe what responsibilities a company owner has in order to make sure their company complies with corporate governance requirements.
1.2 Explain the role of the Company Secretary
2. Identify resources to help manage CSR
2.1 Collect and collate a set of useful resources to help with corporate governance as it relates to creative businesses.

Corporate governance is the set of processes, customs, policies, laws, and institutions affecting the way a corporation (or company) is directed, administered or controlled. Corporate governance also includes the relationships among the many stakeholders involved and the goals for which the corporation is governed. The principal stakeholders are the shareholders, management, and the board of directors. Other stakeholders include employees, customers, creditors, suppliers, regulators, and the community at large.
