50 QUICK FIRE LESSONS FROM MY FIRST MONTH AT SCA
- Don’t write your scabs half hour before they are due
- Manage your time effectively
- Don’t drink on weekdays
- Always have a sharpie on hand
- Don’t get protective over your seat
- Don’t forget to put your mug away
- Practice breakdancing
- Be kind to everyone, you will have to work with all of the bastards
- An idea that sounds stupid at first might inspire something special
- The whole world will be taken over by robots by 2050
- Learn Illustrator
- Always push ideas further
- Don’t rely on South West Trains
- Don’t rely on Southeastern Trains
- Copy up Notes of The Year once a week
- Aim to be asleep by 11 o’clock
- Stop putting tasks off when you have spare time
- Don’t be afraid to show work to mentors
- Remember to use key lines when Alex Taylor is close by
- Find work outside of advertising that inspires you
- Find time to unwind
- Cut the advertising talk outside of SCA
- Go with your gut
- Every new brief is a chance to make an impression
- Your reputation is your most valuable currency
- Don’t spend £15 a week on coffee
- Always bring a jumper ‘cause that pit is cold!
- Answer every brief even if it’s not mandatory
- Don’t compete with others, compete with yourself
