Good Habits

When one starts school, one must learn how to get their shit together, if one wishes to get anything out of their education.

When one starts SCA one must learn how to multitask shit together, to get as much time out of their day as possible.

To squeeze every second of every minute of every hour of every day. Because the first thing you’re told is: Learn how to stay focused and plan your time.

Because soon, it’s going to hit the fan.

Ben the Buddhists suggested we should plan every hour of our day, I found that ridiculous when I first heard it- yet here I am, writing my SCAB on the slot in my diary that says ‘SCAB writing time’.

Because I realised after making a list of the things I need to do, in just the first days of the course, that if I want to get things done and make the most out of my time at SCA, I will have to squeeze every hour of the day.

There will be no time to sit and think about what to do next when we’re in really busy periods, I will need to know in advance what I need to do and when I will need to do it.

To be in control of every hour of every day takes practice and dedication – just like the course.

So when school work will need 100% of my time and dedication there will be no time left for getting into habits of managing my time.

Planning ahead, and doing it well, will soon become my best friend! I truly believe that what I get into habits now, will shape my entire year.

It will shape my entire career.

So I was giving it some thought on the tube home from our second day at SCA.

To make something into a habit takes 21 days, according to some researches. Which means I’ve got 21 days to getting proper time management into place.

21 days to make an effort, to prove to myself that I am truly committed to making the most out of this.

At the same time I need to be like a sponge every day and take in every possible piece of information provided during my days, both in and outside of SCA.

To perform like I never perform before, to push myself to my very limits.

Not for 21 days, but for the rest of my career, and that will need time management.

This, I already knew before getting in to SCA, but now, I actually fully understand it.

There will be no time or place for half hearted commitment, and now that I’ve got my heart set on it.

All I need to do, is to find an hour in my diary when I can sit down, and figure out, how on earth I’m going to make this happen.

But the best part is, I know that I will make it happen, and there’s nothing in this world that can stop me!
