SCA announces Scholarship Competition for Creative Entrepreneurs

The School of Communication Arts 2.0 (SCA), the most awarded advertising school in the world, have announced details of their scholarship launch event, featuring SCA Alumni and Dragon’s Den stars to kick off a competition to find their next creative entrepreneur. The scholarship will provide the winner with an all fees paid place on SCA’s 10 month portfolio school, starting in September 2022.

‘The Invention of the Ideapreneur’ will take place on Wednesday 11th May at the School campus in Pop Brixton, or online. The competition was inspired by the growing number of creatives that have been through the 10 month course and gone onto launch their own successful businesses – two of which have featured on this season’s Dragon’s Den.

The event will feature Co-Founder of Eco Union, Joel Buckley; Founder of Food For Thought, Marcella Tarable; CEO and Founder of Fussy, Matt Kennedy; and Founder of Appear Here, Ross Bailey. All Entrepreneurs were scholarship students at SCA, with Joel and Marcella being winners of previous scholarship competitions run by the award-winning portfolio school.

SCA Dean, Marc Lewis said: “The success of our alumni within the world of communications and creative advertising has always been something to be incredibly proud of. To see our scholarship students pitching for investment on Dragon’s Den, making millions off their ideas and training creatives in Top-100 agencies is the cherry on top. It’s also a stark reminder of why our scholarships are so important.

Joel, Matt, Marcella and Ross are humble and successful, and want to make sure others get the same opportunities they had. That’s why we’re launching this competition with them as our leaders and inspiration for other creative entrepreneurs out there. I can’t wait to see the entries and to find our future Dragon’s Den star.”

CEO & Founder of Fussy, Matt Kennedy said: “In 2015, I was a surveyor and felt trapped in the corporate world. I was fortunate enough to win a scholarship place at SCA, and it sounds dramatic, but it genuinely changed my life. Without the scholarship, I’d have never been able to afford a place and I’m forever grateful to Marc Lewis, Ian Hands and Pete Cain and the rest of the team at SCA who allowed me to fulfill my creative and entrepreneurial ambitions.

If you want to hone your craft and come up with game-changing ideas, SCA really is the best place to be. I’m looking forward to being involved with this competition and giving back what I can with fellow alumni and entrepreneurs”

Headquartered in Brixton, the SCA is known for its vast collection of prestigious advertising awards, including multiple D&AD Pencils and – in the last awards season alone – eight Cream awards.

Offering in-person or online teaching, the SCA boasts an impressive success rate, with 80 per cent of its students landing their dream creative role within six months of completing the School’s 10 month portfolio course.

By joining the event you get a week’s head start on your entry with full scholarship details revealed a week after the event has taken place.
