September 2019 SCA Round-Up
September 2019 SCA Round-Up
Welcome to our first monthly round-up SCAB at SCA!
We’d like to start off with a big THANK YOU to everyone who came to our Portfolio Day on July 17th! The day was a huge success and we couldn’t have done it without our generous sponsors, wonderful guest mentors and the hundreds of friends of SCA who have kept up with the school’s progress over the years.
Check out our video on our Portfolio Day below to see what you missed out on if you couldn’t make it:
After saying our goodbyes to HUSH 2018/19 at St Matthews Church, we’re currently seeing students from HUSH intake in placements now – with a special mention to Marta and Victoria who were the first to be hired. They are now taxpayers, working at Poke Publicis.
We are hugely excited to announce three new sponsors; Taylor Herring, The&Partnership and Three Monkeys Zeno. The incredible support that SCA receives from our sponsors enables us to offer scholarships that change lives.
If you would like to find out more about how you can help support the school please get in touch with Liz who handles partnerships at the school.
The new intake of 2019/20
On Tuesday 10th September, SCA opened its doors to the 11th intake to roam its halls!
With 40 bright students in the year, we have great expectations for the year ahead, teaching them hard work beats talent!
We’ll be booking guest mentors in from the 30th October onwards, so make sure to get in touch if you’d like to mentor this term by contacting email@example.com for mentoring dates and how to get involved at the school.
What We’ve Been Up to So Far
Our first brief to our students was to learn the nature of storytelling by making a silent movie with different narrative categories picked for them by the Dean. Here’s a little taster of what some of the teams came up with:
Marc’s Angels created by Luce Renauld Frigiotti, Alice Burden, Elle Bellewood, Ivan Stanojevic & Christopher Medford
Next on the agenda for our students was getting them creating in workshops. Using skills from their workshops (life drawing with Ian Hands and photography portrait lighting with Rob MacGillivary) they explored the theme of identity and self-expression by experimenting with GIFs
On Friday 20th September, they took to the streets in protest for the #GlobalClimateStrike making headlines with their eye-catching placards – featuring on the front pages of the Guardian, Vice UK, BBC News, Evening Standard and The Telegraph.
Find out more about their thoughts on the march in their Group SCAB below!
