Same same, not so different
Last week we had a talk from Rosie Arnold and she shared her favourite posters. And with our reflection brief being about creating a poster encouraging each other to do better craft, it inspired me to look at recent ads to may have been inspired by the past. There is debate about whether using what’s been made in the past is good or not. At SCA I think most of us don’t want to make the same things as each other and as the rest of the world. The ads that compel me are always born from a beautiful insight and combined with a subjective experience of the world and voice. It’s not easy but all I know is that it’s deflating to see brands getting too inspired by others and it can feel like a cop-out. Here are some examples:
Bob’s Burger “quickly delivered” – 2007
Agency: NBS Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)

Doordash McDelivery “Faster food” – 2023
Agency: No Fixed Address (Canada)

Kenzo Paris Autumn Winter – 2013
Gens & Vous Agency – 2022
Shiner Premium Beer – 2013

Two Hearted IPA – 2023

Drinks Delivery Service x Bud – 2021
