SCA retains title of ‘The World’s Most Awarded’ in record-breaking year
The School of Communication Arts (SCA) has concluded this year’s awards season with a fresh influx of prestigious award wins, breaking all-time records in the school’s 12 year run. As a result, the Brixton-based SCA has retained its title as the most awarded ad school in the world.
This fresh collection of accolades features 16 D&AD New Blood awards, more than any other ad school or creative advertising course that took part. The SCA has also been honoured by a highly sought-after Black Pencil for the 5th consecutive year, which D&AD describes as ‘the ultimate creative accolade, reserved for ground-breaking work.’ SCA is also the only school for the second consecutive year to have won a Yellow, White, and Black Pencil for a single entry.
The SCA has also been announced as the recipient of twelve Talent Business Cream awards, of the twenty awarded globally. This means that sixty per cent of the Cream award winners – the best portfolio graduates awarded across the world – were students of the SCA, as voted for by the industry’s top creatives. Winners will attend a ceremony taking place on the 7th September.
Last but not least, in SCA’s first year of entering The Caples Awards, SCA students took a bronze and a gold in the Newcomers Award category at the prestigious event held at The Groucho Club, hosted and run by industry great, Patrick Collister.
Marc Lewis, Dean of the School of Communication Arts, said: “SCA’s mission has always been to offer students a creative education of the highest possible standard, while providing the industry with a vibrant and diverse new generation of exceptional talent. Our students work closely with our partner organisations and notable names in the industry, so they are keenly attuned to the demands and insights of award-winning creative work.
SCA’s graduates of 2022 were our most diverse group yet, whether measured through race, gender, age, neurodiversity or family background and commitments – our record-breaking award-wins this year are testament to that. We have exceptional talent coming through our doors in September and record-breaking years like these only set alight our hunger to do better and be better. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can build on this in 2023.”
Offering both in-person and distance learning courses, the SCA provides students with a ten-month mixture of teaching, collaboration, and guaranteed 6 month placements at renowned creative agencies.
Students are supported throughout their careers after course completion, and over 80 per cent of the School’s graduates go on to secure their dream job within six months in roles such as copywriting and art direction.
