Summer Lovin
A few months ago when I wrote my first SCAB I was quite anxious to start SCA but now as it gets closer I feel excited.
I am excited to meet new people and to work with and alongside them.
I am excited when I think about what I have the offer the course and the industry.
I am excited to be at the Drum and I am excited to hopefully start a new successful chapter of my life!
All very exciting.
This summer has been enjoyable for me, I haven’t had an “official” job as I just finished working at a school as an assistant to 5 year olds so decided I needed some well deserved R&R to prepare myself for September.
With my new found free time I gave myself the super fun task of learning to animate. I thought this would be a great relaxing way to spend my summer as a little side project to do alongside my SCA prep. Wrong. The first day or two were great, I got my lightbox , paper and pencil and started hand drawing my animations. Soon enough though, the novelty of the new project wore off and my summer holiday became a sort of ground hog day situation spent in a dark room hunched over my Lightbox.
I’m half joking, I am really enjoying learning to animate from scratch by hand. It’s a good mix up from the digital age we live in and the results are beyond rewarding , being able to recognise the improvement is very encouraging and I am now starting to move to digital animation too.
I did not see my summer going this way but I’m glad it did, I hope to utilise this new skill in my work this year and push myself to continue to learn new skills.
