Ah what a good ad

I love this ad. So should you. Do you?

Ah what a good ad.

I like that this ad breaks the format, it’s very refreshing which is the whole point. It’s a vimto ad after all!

I like that this ad uses the word ‘rascal’, it’s endearing and suits the brand well.

I like that this ad refers to itself and ‘I’ and the audience and ‘you’, it makes me feel like I’ve made a friend.

I like that this ad has a white screen at the start rather than a black one, if i was watching tv in the dark it would hurt my eyes therefore making me pay attention.

I like that this ad has so many different styles in it, I feel like I’m watching a cinematography compilation on tiktok.

I like that this ad has a woman with eyelids painted on her eyelids, such an intriguing visual.

I like that this ad has a depiction of the normal everyday person doing something a bit wild, the harlem shake reference is a bit dated but it’s important to have something like that nevertheless.

I like that this ad has a lot of symmetry.

I like that this ad makes absolutely everything you see or hear serves the idea, it makes the message very clear.

I like that this ad celebrates rulebreakers. Once I was told that they were trying to break the unspoken rule that northerners drink vimto while southerners drink ribena I realised how genius it was!

I like that this ad has a nice grade on it, so do lots of ads but I find this particularly fitting.

I like that this ad has everything written in capitals, you’re not supposed to do that. Cheeky rulebreakers.

I like that this ad has such a good voice on it, I feel like I’m getting told a folk tale.

I like that this ad doesn’t tell you what it’s for right till the very end, it allows me to fall in love with it before I realise they’re trying to sell me something and by the time they reveal it I’m too deep in it to be put off by their capitalist agenda.

I like that this ad has a dog with weird eyes, makes me feel like I’ve found an easter egg when I watch it again looking for extra details. Very rewarding.

I like that this ad kept the gag running the whole way through and didn’t switch to some stupid jingle at the end but instead found a natural ending to the music and then reminded me what got me hooked in the first place.

I like that this ad made me feel like other people might have shut their eyes and I didn’t so I’m special.

I don’t like that this ad felt like it was trying to be trendy at some points, I don’t think it’s timeless which is a shame because it definitely could have been.

All in all I love this ad. I always will.

Forever and always,

Jodie
