I review some stuff – By @now_pictured

I review some stuff

Seeing as how lockdown has given me more time to watch stuff, I thought it would be fun to give you guys reviews of some of the movies and TV shows I’ve seen so far.

MOVIES:

SCOOB (2020) – Why is this a superhero movie that’s super high tech and relegates the original Scooby-Doo characters to glorified extras? This animated abomination should have been aborted.

BLUE VELVET (1986) – Yes Henny! Lynch is giving us blue velvet, red roses, white picket fences, Laura Dern, Kyle McLachlan, sex, intrigue, violence, humor – what more can you ask for?

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (1989) – I’ll have what she’s having! Except I really don’t want Billy Crystal.

NINE TO FIVE (1980) – Oooh yes! Dolly Parton is so darn cute in this one. Fabulous fantasy sequences and still holds up excellently for a 40-year-old movie.

FIRST WIVES CLUB (1996) – Goldie Hawn is hilarious as are Diane Keaton and Bette Midler. What a wonderful story of sisterhood in the 90s! And then there’s Sarah Jessica Parker serving us sexy young mistress in this one.

CADILLAC RECORDS (2008) – Beyonce as Etta James is just Beyonce singing as Beyonce in a pussycat wig.

BLACKKKLANSMAN (2018) – Spike Lee rulez.

TEAM AMERICA (2004) – Includes so many hit jams. »I guess Pearl Harbor sucked just a little bit more than I miss you….«

BAD EDUCATION (2019) – Embezzlement stories are always fun and Hugh Jackman is great in this non-Wolverine, non-Musical role!

CINDERELLA III: A TWIST IN TIME (2007) – The best DTV sequel Disney has ever released. Cinderella is forced to fight to get her life back after the evil stepmother undoes everything the Fairy Godmother did in the first one. Think Taken meets Fast and Furious meets Face/Off.

101 DALMATIANS (1996) – The live-action version of 101 Dalmatians actually holds up well and of course it’s worth watching just to see all the amazing costumes Glenn Close wears.

102 DALMATIANS (2000) – I’d watch Glenn Close working at a drive-thru of a McDonalds.

CIRCUS OF BOOKS (2019) – This Netflix documentary about a mild-mannered Jewish family running a hardcore Gay Porn Store in LA is lit.

A SECRET LOVE (2020) – I was crying before the opening credits came.

TV SHOWS:

WATCHMEN (2019) – A NUN WITH A M*****ING GUN. Giant squids. Racism.

LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE (2020) – Starring Kerry Washingtons faces of disgust and the comeback of Reese Witherspoon’s Election hair.

DISPATCHES FROM ELSEWHERE (2020) – What a trippy show from Jason Segal about Jason Segal. Such a departure from his usual stuff too.

HOLLYWOOD (2020) – Ryan Murphy just knows how to craft interesting queer stories even if they usually come with an extra pound of cheese.

DAVE (2020) – Mr. Leftward-Sloping Penis to you. Lil Dicky’s show where he plays a fictionalized version of himself is one of the funnier things I’ve watched all year.

AWKWAFINA IS NORA FROM QUEENS (2020) – Awkwafina really is that bitch.

THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES (2020) – You can’t go wrong with Danny McBride and HBO.
