A few places remain on Stride London scholarship for residents of Lewisham and Wandsworth

School of Communication Arts encourages Lewisham and Wandsworth creatives to apply for remaining Stride London scholarship places.

The world-renowned School of Communication Arts (SCA) has announced it has just a few remaining scholarships left for its highly regarded creative advertising course.

Nine places are available for Lewisham and Wandsworth residents, who are not required to have any formal qualifications or prior creative industry experience. Successful applicants will also be supplied with a laptop before they start their 10-month online course beginning in September 2021.

By completing practical coursework – both in groups and individually – and by managing briefs that simulate agency work, these aspiring superstars will build up portfolios which can be showcased at a Portfolio Day event, attended by hundreds of creative industry professionals.

The first wave of scholarships has already met with immediate success in the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, with all available spaces for the initiative in those areas now filled.

Stride, a talent development programme is responsible for the funding of these new places and is a partnership of Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth councils. Its purpose is to create opportunity, develop talent and support creative and tech enterprises in South London.

Marc Lewis, Dean of the School of Communication Arts, said: “Not only will scholarship recipients gain the tried-and-tested benefits of our course, but they’ll also collect enough pearls of wisdom to fill an oyster farm from our faculty members and our network of over 1,000 industry professionals, all of whom have something unique to contribute to this organic form of creative education.”

This opportunity to achieve the dreams of any aspiring creative is substantial: over 80% of the School’s alumni go on to work for a top agency upon completion of the course. Moreover, the £7,500 course fees will be paid for entirely by Stride: an organisation dedicated to projects that nurture innovation, empower talent, and encourage enterprise.

A spokesperson for Stride added: “We are passionate about investing in projects for creatives at all stages of their journeys. We know that even those who are just starting out will find a remarkable and fulfilling home in the SCA while they prepare for the tremendous future in advertising that lies beyond it.”

Based in Pop Brixton, the School of Communication Arts is the most awarded ad school in the world. Founded in 2009, the SCA was created with the intention of seeking out and nurturing the best and brightest creative talents, encouraging them to become the next generation of advertising and marketing superstars.

The SCA provides a portfolio- and placement-based education ideally suited to individuals interested in pursuing a career in copywriting, creative direction, or similar positions within the arena of communication advertising.
