Your alter Ego or what you could have been – by @grudevaa

Your alter Ego or what you could have been

It’s been 36h since I woke up.

I’ve travelled over a 1,000 miles.

And I have to write a SCAB.

F**k.

My mind keeps running backwards and forwards through the past 6 days; the past 8 months; the past 9 years.

About a year and a half ago I applied for an MBA at Berkley. As a matter of fact it’s one of the few email subscriptions I haven’t cancelled.

They keep sending me updates, talks and other information about their programmes. Alas, I haven’t read a single one of them.

I just kind of like receiving them.

I like to think about the other Annie, in an alternative universe that went through with the application and moved to San Francisco. She networked well and before you knew it she was heading up an amazing start up in the Silicon valley.

She would indulge in her love for suits and drop it in a weeks’ time in favour of jeans and T-shirts.

She would be driving a Tesla car, have a nice, spacious house in the suburbs and be married by the age of 30.

She wouldn’t have to write SCABs.

I hope I run into that person one day – maybe I’ll create a campaign for her start up or get chatting in a queue for the ladies’ at that new place.

We would laugh, exchange tips and part ways. She would be envious of me following my heart and I would be envious of her following her brain.

It’s been a very sunny Wednesday in London; I wouldn’t change my life for the world. So what’s your alter ego doing in an alternative universe?

If you tell me I’ll draw it for you – hit me up on twitter at @grudevaa
