Video editors have it the worst – By @DaisyBard

Video editors have it the worst
(Note: I decided to write this scab in the style of Dave Trott’s blog as it makes each sentence stand out and helps me with my verbosity)
I’ve realized something this week.
Anyone who can edit a video has twice the work of everyone else at SCA.
They get lumped with a huge job at the end each video brief.
The edit is like the creative, but boring.
Unless you love it.
Which most people don’t.
You’ve got your hands dirty filming all the fun stuff you can think of.
And now your group has left you to put it all together.
It’s admin at its worst, because it always seems to get done late at night. Solo. Before hand-in.
Final Cut = final slog.
Lightworks = heavy workload.
iMovie = iHateThis.
We’ve been working on several video briefs and I don’t think it’s fair.
I don’t understand why executing to this level is part of what we do, when it’s not ultimately part of what we do.
But I’m sure I’ll learn.
Let me point out that I cannot edit.
So any result of this scab wouldn’t directly benefit me.
But hopefully, if the observation gets into the right hands, it may positively affect some others in the year.
Hopefully.
