My Face During Different Time Periods
“Artificial intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages”.
Should I be excited?
Should I be intrigued?
Should I be terrified that the AI is mercilessness giving me a run for my money? All of the above (probably).
Within the creative industry, artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly advanced. Many corporations may no longer require graphic designers or illustrators as artificial intelligence algorithms are able to design things with minimal effort, minimal time, and most importantly, minimal cost. So basically, your average Bob who works in finance has the ability to create something extraordinary through AI…
With new design software such as Microsoft Designer or Dalle, you can just type in a prompt such as “Vintage, grainy, sepia, photograph of adorned Native American man, Hassleblad, f4, 150mm, natural light” and this below will appear:
According to an article I read, even though artificial intelligence can generate quick information, it still cannot capture human emotions in the same way that a designer or creative can. Human creativity can create something so beautiful and authentic that no amount of innovative AI will be able to fool people. In other words, artificial intelligence just cannot replicate true emotion.
My Heritage AI Time Machine
“The science team fed photos of James Corden, Piers Morgan and Drew Barrymore into the tool – and got some rather hilarious results. Corden looks well-groomed and ready for battle in his Viking clobber, while Morgan makes a real mean-looking bandit from the Wild West.”
My heritage launched an AI time machine feature last week which allows you to transform into a historical figure. It shows you how you’d look through different time periods with “hyper realistic” imagery. My initial reaction was to join the bandwagon after seeing this virally on TikTok. Initially, this feature was free for a limited amount of time. In the end, I just gave in to the marketing tactics and paid nearly £10 out of curiosity. It’s been my desire to incarnate a luscious swing dress and smoke cigars in the Marilyn Pin-up doll Era (Rip my bank account.) I think my face would have been appreciated a lot during that era.
How does My Heritage work? You can submit 25 different images, such as full-body shots and close-ups. The time machine will then send you an email with the final images, within an hour or two.
There are many categories to choose from in the time machine, including an Egyptian pharaoh and a 1940’s painter. Here are my results…
French Royalty
US Civil War Woman (Daguerreotype)
Russian Tsarina

1930s Hollywood Movie Star

1940’s

WWII Nurse

And my favourite… 1950’s Chic

French Aristocratic Lady

18th Century Bride

What did I learn from My Heritage? The first thing I realized was that I am probably more objectively attractive than I thought. Second, the AI is extremely terrifying. Thirdly, I think I would had been a spectacular 18th century bride. My Heritage time travel is groundbreaking and highly entertaining, since My Heritage is always innovating creative ways to make history entertaining.
