SCA mentor call out – By @hcntweet
SCA mentor call out
At SCA, mentors are the gift that keeps giving.
We’re eight weeks into the first term and over twenty of them have taken to the podium at POP Brixton. All have given at least an hour of their time and expertise, most of them have offered a lot more. They’re all we need and more – and we always want more.
We’ve been chatting a lot about people we look up to, and even collaborated on a ‘request a guest’ roll call to grow the mentor list. In the interest of covering all channels in our campaign, here’s a personal few for the blog:
@OrielDavisLyons
Oriel Davis-Lyons
Creative Director at Spotify, Oriel made some incredible work at Droga5 NY and BBDO before joining the in-house team at Spotify. He recently launched The One School, a free online portfolio school for Black creatives looking to break into the industry.
@TheMegaforce
The Megaforce
Aka Charles Brisgand, Clément Gallet, Léo Berne and Raphaël Rodriguez. Perhaps it’s time we heard from the people who put our ideas into live action? The Megaforce gang are the directors behind ‘Nothing Beats a Londoner’ and the brilliant Burberry for Christmas 2020 (can’t stop watching).
@johnogunz
John Ogunmuyiwa, Creative Copywriter at Havas
By day, he’s working full-time at the agency. By night he writes and directs short films that win big awards. John, teach us how to juggle multiple creative exploits whilst holding down a super demanding job.
@LeoBurnettLDN
Chaka sobhani, CEO at Leo Burnett
Chaka has written some hilarious ads and – from listening to her speak – is just as entertaining in person. Please Chaka, come and share your wit and wisdom with us.
@whothehellisjj
Judy John, CEO at Edelman
Judy was behind the iconic #likeagirl campaign for Always. She’s also a great public speaker and has a lot of insight on embracing what makes you unique.
@nilsleonard, @nattergraeme and @LucyJameson_ (Founders @uncommon_LDN) Nils Leonard, Natalie Graeme and Lucy Jameson, founders of Uncommon. I think most of us in the studio want a piece of Uncommon. Can we get a piece of Uncommon in the studio?
@pentagram
Naresh Ramchandani, Partner at Pentagram
Naresh is the newly-appointed president of D&AD, but a seasoned pro in advertising and design. He has lots to say about words and language and I’d love to hear more.
@mrmkennedy @pauline_a_etc
Mike Kennedy and Pauline Ashford, Senior Creatives at AMV BBDO
Mike and Pauline are the stars behind last year’s best Christmas ad. I want to hear how they got Grime into an IKEA ad. Plus, I’ve read they interned for two years before landing a permanent role and we could all do with a piece of that resilience.
@PaulSmithDesign
The one and only Paul Smith.
Dreaming big here.
