Eurostar moved its London railway terminal and needed to tell people about this landmark event. We created Somers Town to tell this story in a culturally relevant way. The film is an entertaining coming-of-age story made in collaboration with BAFTA winning film director Shane Meadows. The production of Somers Town was in the area around the Saint Pancras development, filmed while the terminal was being built. The story is about the personal journey of Tomo, a troubled 16 year old who ran away from home. He meets Marek, a shy Polish teenager who shares a flat with his father. When Marek agrees to let Tomo stay with them, unbeknown to his father, the pair form a strong bond as they do odd jobs for an eccentric neighbour and compete for the attention of Maria, a beautiful French waitress.Somers Town has won awards at some of the most prestigious film festivals and the film rights have been sold to distributors in all of Eurostar's key markets including the UK, France, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia and South Africa. This campaign informed audiences about the railway terminal in a new way. Somers Town flipped the advertising model on its head. Instead of a controlled message in a controlled media space, the film was a piece of entertainment that people watched out of choice, not by interruption in between the content they really wanted to see.
